**Support Worker**

**Location: Shrewsbury**

**Hours: 35 per week (Monday to Friday)**

**Contract type: Fixed term to end March 2024**

**Salary: £19,838 per annum based on 35 hours per week**

**Driving Requirement: UK manual licence for driving British Red Cross vehicle**

No professional experience? No problem

If you can make someone feel contented and at ease then you’d be perfect as a **Support Worker** in our team.
- You will provide assistance to patients to enable them to be discharged in a safe and timely manner from
** Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.** You will undertake non-medical tasks to free up the medical staff. This will enable them to focus on their clinical role whilst you make a patient's stay as relaxed as possible.

**A day in the life of a Support Worker**:

- You will act on referrals from Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to collect patients who are ready for discharge.
- You will provide transport, using British Red Cross vehicle, to ensure patients can be discharged and taken home.
- You may be required to transport medication or equipment for patients as requested by the hospital.
- You will ensure patients are settled at home following hospital discharge. You will collect prescriptions or shopping if required.
- You will signpost patients to relevant services following a hospital stay. This can help them regain their independence at home and reduce the risk of being admitted to hospital again.

**To be a successful Support Worker**:

- Do you have a full UK manual driving licence held for a minimum of two years?
- Do you have a knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care?
- Are you thoughtful, caring and patient?

**Please note, there is no personal care or administering of medication for this role.**
