We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Practitioner, who is experienced in Safeguarding Adults to join the Safeguarding team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

A great opportunity has arisen for registered professionals with experience in safeguarding to join the Adult Safeguarding Team at NUH.

The post available is for 0.6 WTE, 22.5 hours per week which is a substantive post.

Flexibility will be required to work across the adults, children’s and midwifery safeguarding teams where required.

The post holder will be required to attend clinical areas to support patients and clinical teams.

The post holder will need to be able to receive, convey and present complex information written and verbal, formally and informally as appropriate. They will work to Trust policies and procedures and within safeguarding legislation. They will work together with the Named Professionals in the development of evidence based patient care policies and procedures/audit.

To deliver safeguarding education and training across the trust.

The applicant will need an awareness of the mental capacity act, deprivation of liberty safeguards and the mental health act.

Clinical

To assist with raising the profile of safeguarding adults and children, domestic abuse, mental capacity act, deprivation of liberty safeguards and the mental health act across NUH. A working awareness of the Children’s Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018.

Provides effective and appropriate support and specialist advice to trust staff, patients and carers following a suspicion of or a disclosure of abuse and/or neglect.

To assist ward staff, trust wide, with day-to-day safeguarding of adults and children and domestic abuse issues acting in a consultative and advisory capacity.

To provide and receive highly complex, sensitive and confidential information in relation to safeguarding.

Will be required to analyse and interpret data which may conflict and provide options.

To facilitate and support staff in accurate completion of all safeguarding documentation.

To liaise closely with other health, social care professionals, police and legal departments to ensure a co-ordinated approach and high quality care is provided, including attendance at case conferences and reviews if appropriate.

To represent NUH at external meetings where required, including attendance at the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)

Becomes an effective resource to clinical teams trust wide to provide safeguarding adults supervision for staff members involved in safeguarding cases.

Effectively communicates with multi-professional and multi-agency teams.

Works with the Adult Safeguarding Lead, Safeguarding Adult Team Leader, Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding/Domestic Abuse and the Named Doctor for safeguarding at Nottingham University Hospitals to maintain and utilise links within local and national networks.

To provide feedback and supervision for staff involved in adult safeguarding cases.

Assist staff to achieve the delivery of a high quality service from identification of concern to a safe discharge, through assessment, diagnosis, referral, treatment and review.

Assist in the implementation of systems to measure and achieve high standards of clinical quality.

To contribute to the development of multi-agency and trust wide policies and procedures within their specialist field.

Contributes to audit process in conjunction with wider safeguarding team.

Professional

Is a credible, accountable practitioner within the remit of safeguarding adults, working independently but managed by the adult safeguarding lead.

Accept personal responsibility for identifying own learning needs and professional development and demonstrate a commitment to develop skills, practice and knowledge within the speciality.

Ensure that you maintain confidentiality at all times.
