Medical Receptionist

We are seeking a skilled and organised Medical Receptionist to join our busy, friendly team within Parkhill Medical Practice where we have 12000 patients registered. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth operation of our busy GP Practice. Your attention to detail and excellent communication skills will contribute to the overall efficiency of our practice.
**Hours required (20 hours per week)**

Tues
- 1400-1800
Wed
- 1400-1800
Thurs
- 1400-1800
Fri
- 1400-1800
**Responsibilities**:
- Liaise with patients ensuring strict patient confidentiality at all times
- Register new patients and update existing patient information within medical records
- Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct enquiries to the appropriate staff members. Contact patients with results and further information when required.
- Verify insurance information and assist with insurance claims processing
- Collect payments for services rendered
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing and scanning documents
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers as necessary
**Skills and experience**:
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly desirable
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems although training will be given
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively (essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (essential)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is highly desirable
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in stressful situations (essential)
- Administrative skills: Ability to handle various administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and maintaining patient records.
- Office skills: Proficiency in using office equipment such as computers, printers and scanners. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.
