Maintenance Handyman/woman

**The Firs Care Home - Daily Maintenance / Handyperson**

**Requires a Maintenance / Handyperson, £12.50 per hour (April increase brought forward) on a permanent contract.**

**40 hours per week.**

We run a care home in Great Haywood, Stafford which consists of 65 bedrooms and communal areas and maintains a high percentage occupancy rate for most of the year. We are looking for a skilled and hard-working Handyperson to work in our maintenance department in maintaining the resident’s rooms and the grounds and associated community spaces. We pride ourselves on sustaining excellent curb appeal and providing our residents with safe, beautiful places to live and enjoy themselves. Your job responsibilities will include the maintenance and upkeep of care homes facilities, green spaces and paperwork in line with relevant bodies.

**Handyperson responsibilities and duties.**

Respond to the manager's requests for maintenance services, including general repair to bedrooms/ furniture and bathrooms.

The following general skills are desired:

- Decorating
- Plumbing (basic)
- House repair / DIY skills.
- Electrics (basic)
- Carpentry (basic)
- Tiling
- Problem-solving

The ability to manage time effectively and to work with the management team that operates the home.

Ensuring the parking lot and sidewalks are free from litter and debris, and maintaining the garden to an excellent standard.

Completing the required paperwork and audits in a timely and effective manner.

Must have a good and friendly personality, be able to work alone, be hardworking, and have the initiative to find tasks to maintain the care home to the highest standard.

Willingness to uphold company standards for the safety of the residents, **you may be called out in non-working times when emergency situations arise (paid at time and a half).**

**A DBS is required as you will work in an environment with vulnerable older people.**
