You will work within an internationally renowned multidisciplinary group undertaking research into the prevention and early detection of gastrointestinal cancers. Joining a friendly, highly motivated team, you will be involved in several clinical research projects funded by the UK Government and charities.

The research areas include projects focused on colorectal cancer screening and surveillance and their impact on incidence, stage at diagnosis and mortality, as well as examining potential biomarkers to identify individuals at risk of upper or lower gastrointestinal cancer. You will conduct statistical analyses of large datasets, produce outputs for discussion and prepare manuscripts for publication.

You will have a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health (quantitative) or a closely related discipline and experience working in medical research within the NHS or an academic environment. You will have training and experience in conducting epidemiologic analyses of large datasets.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- R_esearch support_
- _Support the Principal Investigator (PI) with research co-ordination activities. _
- Provide guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Contribute to bids for research grants.
- Actively participate in the research programme of the group.
- _Attend relevant meetings._
- Data analysis_
- Prepare and clean data for statistical analysis.
- Lead analyses of large datasets from a variety of sources.
- Interpret data and prepare suitable summary outputs of the analysis.
- Ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all findings.
- Disseminate research findings_
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-review in relevant journals.
- Present findings at national and/or international meetings or conferences.

Disseminate research to the local community of North-West London

**Essential requirements**:

- Hold a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health (quantitative) or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant experience working in medical research within the NHS or academic setting.
- Training and experience in epidemiologic analyses.
- Working knowledge of clinical research regulatory requirements.
- Experience working in a patient-facing setting and/or with members of the public.
- Experience working in a patient-facing setting and/or with members of the public.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Statistical analysis of large datasets using R or STATA.
- Ability to work in a team, network and establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, collaborators, and members of the public.
- Willingness to work with others to achieve research goals and to take on different tasks as they arise on an ad-hoc basis.
- Proven IT skills including ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

**Further information**:
This post is full time and 12-month fixed term in the first instance.
- The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.
