We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mentor Champion to join our team in Coventry.
**Job Summary**:
To support learners on their journey across PET-Xi funded courses, breaking down barriers to engage with learners and complete all tasks associated with their programme to ensure learners receive the best possible experience and support, resulting in them progressing into positive destinations.
The post requires a high level of engagement, personal responsibility, initiative, and attention to detail.
**Duties & responsibilities**:
- Work closely with the Contract Manager to ensure all recruitment and progression opportunities are maximised across all contracts
- Engage with learners referred to PET-Xi via a phone call in order to recruit them onto vocational programmes.
- Provide One-to-one information, advice and guidance for learners while on course and upon completion.
- Attend community venues, recruitment events and use social media platforms to promote referral links and opportunities for job seekers.
- Help learners as required with job searching, CV, cover letters and interviews
- Help to source Work trials and placement and vacancies
- Presenting PET-Xi programmes to referral agencies in group forums.
- Provide face to face and remote 1:1 support
- Ensure the efficient collection, storing, tracking and management of information relating to learner history and activity
- Liaise with relevant agencies offering access to employment, work placements, training and apprenticeship opportunities or progress into further/higher education
- Offer impartial advice and guidance to support learners into positive destinations
**Reports to**:Contract Manager
**Skills & Experience**:
- Previous experience in engaging with adults / young people
- Ability to engage with and inspire learners by using appropriate training techniques and inter-personal skills
- The ability to engage and support difficult learners often in deprived geographical areas.
- Engage effectively with the client at local level and actively respond to any complaints or concerns
- Be capable of modifying engagement method when appropriate (self-reliance)
- Showcase best practice to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of Mentoring in an educational projects’ context (Desirable)
- Knowledge of local networks (Essential)
- Knowledge of local labour market trends (Desirable)
- Experience of working with internal and external partners to achieve a desired result (Essential)
**Education / Qualifications**:
- Level 3 IAG qualification or equivalent experience (Desirable)
- Good Standard of English and Maths (Essential)
**Knowledge Requirements**:
- Knowledge of good practice in providing mentoring services to clients
- Working knowledge of industry good practice
**Skills/abilities**:
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to plan and manage own workload to achieve set KPIs
- Proven ability to maintain working relationships with stakeholders
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
**Personal qualities**:
- Ability to motivate a learners/participant
- The ability to gain ‘buy in’ from learners/participants
- Resilience and determination
- Confident and engaging those furthest from education and or employment
