Please note this is a PART TIME Term Time contract, working 20 hours per week, working 39 weeks per year. The full time equivalent salary grade range is from £23,801 to £25,262 pro rata, so the actual salary pro rata across 20 hours would start from £11,164.34 to £11,849.65.

Our Public Transport department provides a huge range of transport services for people across the county. We support the local public transport network, coordinate concessionary fares schemes and provide bespoke transport services through contracts with local transport providers.

To join us as a Passenger Transport Inspector, you need to be passionate about supporting the people of Kent and aware of the Council’s role in passenger transport. You should also have the confidence to talk to all kinds of people in a professional way, even in challenging situations. Finally, you need to be organised and self-motivated, as you’ll be operating in a busy environment. Whether you’re working on-site or from home, you’ll have the freedom to manage your workload your way.

**Your role in our Public Transport team**

Looking for a part-time role that fits around your other commitments? As an Inspector, you’ll work around four hours per day (term time only), usually in the mornings when pupils are travelling to school. It’s a great way to achieve a more flexible working life, while helping us provide the best possible transport services for our county’s young people.

Our team organises transport for over 12,000 clients and manages around 3,000 individual contracts. On top of that, over 25,000 young people use our concessionary fares scheme. As a Passenger Transport Inspector, you’ll see that these services work as they should, spotting issues, raising concerns and looking for areas for improvement. Visiting schools and bus stations, you’ll be part of a monitoring programme, producing daily reports and making sure that services comply with contracts. Day to day, you’ll check that services reflect timetables and that all staff and vehicles meet requirements. Working independently, you’ll be trusted to deliver without supervision.
