This is the next step in your horticulture career, it’s a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and gain experience as a Gardener for the National Trust. Polesden Lacey is a celebrated Edwardian Garden which is brimming with potential, we need your help to unlock it.
What it's like to work here:The garden at Polesden Lacey is 30 acres in total, including a magnificent Rose Garden and a kitchen garden which grows food for the onsite café. The sweeping grounds are surrounded by glorious views of the surrey Hills. Natan Cointet, the new head gardener has ambitious plans to develop the garden. Extensive renovations of the garden are starting to take place. You’ll have a lasting impact on a historic garden, becoming part of its legacy.

What you'll be doing:Playing a key role in the development and maintenance of the gardens, you’ll lead teams of volunteers and staff with exceptional gardening skills and a love of the outdoors. Participating in the management planning and achieving significant changes will progress your career.
You’ll carry out a range of practical tasks, maintaining the high standards across the garden and taking ownership of specific areas ensuring healthy plants are on show for our visitors to enjoy. You’ll manage projects and harness your creative flair by designing and planting new garden features.

Who we're looking forTo be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Significant practical experience practical experience supported by the relevant qualifications.
- Have supervisory experience from a similar role. Excellent knowledge of plants
- Creative flair and an eye for detail
- Competence with use and maintenance of garden machinery including, chainsaws, tractors, hedge trimmers, pedestrian, and ride on mowers.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, able to administrate.
