Spinwell is recruiting for an Head of Internal & Events for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

**RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEAD OF INTERNAL & EVENTS**
- Be responsible for owning and developing GDS’s stakeholder relationships with senior GDS staff, senior stakeholders across government and industry executives.
- Showcase not just the best of what GDS is doing internally, but also reflect the wider transformation stories from departments using our products and services, to show how the government as a whole continues to make world leading progress in digital.
- Work closely with other teams, particularly the People Team, to continue building an engaged workforce and make GDS a great place to work.
- Lead GDS’s internal communications strategy, designing an approach that will drive employee engagement and be responsive to audience insight and evaluation, enabling you to iterate your approach regularly.
- Provide strategic advice to the Leadership Team about how to effectively communicate with staff, recognise and manage communications risks and opportunities, pro-actively identifying mitigations and escalating appropriately.
- Have overall responsibility for planning, managing and delivering the annual GDS events programme, including our flagship Sprint events, ensuring that all events contribute to enhancing our reputation and serving user needs.
- Manage stakeholder relationships with senior GDS staff, industry executives and cross government departments to identify content and develop events programmes, ensuring that all events have a clear purpose and outcome, aligns to our strategic priorities and maximises return on investment.
- Work with the Head of Communications to plan and manage the events budget.
- Liaising across the team on monthly finance reports and end of year performance reports.

**SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE HEAD OF INTERNAL & EVENTS**
- Experience of internal communications planning, delivery and evaluation, which supports effective employee engagement; this includes using audience insight to determine priorities and measure success.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, understanding organisational policies and processes and adapting them into clear and accessible messages, and delivering them through a variety of channels (including social) to foster an inclusive environment and culture that people want to be part of.
- Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships at all levels, acting as a trusted advisor to directors and senior leaders, using personal gravitas and influence, and providing appropriate challenges when necessary.
- A proven track record of providing communications and events advice to other teams, offering solutions, and identifying where changes or improvements are needed, to support employee engagement and ensure effective internal communications.
- Experience in events management with considerable proven experience in project or operational management and delivery to tight deadlines within a large complex organisation.
- Experience of devising and implementing events covering everything from identifying speakers, drawing up audience lists, managing invitations and follow up, and ensure all logistics are in place.
- Budget management experience, including planning and forecasting and associated procurement policies in a large organisation.
- Demonstrable experience in liaising with suppliers such as production companies, venues, caterers & equipment suppliers.
