- **Remote Working however IT kit will be need to be collected from council offices in Twickenham (TW1)**

**Key Requirements**:

- Working knowledge of Housing Benefit
- Ability to deal with complex Housing Benefit Overpayment queries
- Working knowledge of Debt Recovery

**Job Purpose**

The Housing Benefit Overpayment recovery team are responsible to recover overpaid housing benefit from customers, private landlords and social landlords. The team also deal with responding to correspondence, from customers and other external organisations. The team are responsible for negotiating payment arrangements with customers and taking payment via telephone.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilites**
- Provide a service to customers and outside organisations by:

- Dealing with and collecting any incoming post and documents, ensuring the post and documents are given to the correct department.
- Calling customers by telephone to take agreed payments.
- Using the IT systems to print letters or documents as required for different services or customers.
- Organise allocated work onto spreadsheets.
- Carry out checks on the Department of Works and Pension system as required for debt recovery.
- Maintain filing systems and databases as required.
- To ensure that the services for both Councils are dealt with on an equitable basis to deliver the standards required for each, as agreed annually by the Executives of both Councils.
- To advise and support managers on relevant matters affecting the service.
- To contribute as required to performance review and improvement measures on an ongoing basis, helping to ensure that a customer focus is embedded within the function and innovative and creative solutions are evaluated to securing the highest quality and value for money function.
- To contribute as required to change programmes within the service.
- To work as required in ways that develop good working relations and collaborative arrangements with internal and external stakeholders
