Belfast, United Kingdom Arup Full time

A Future with purpose

At Arup we’re dedicated to sustainable development and to do socially useful work that has meaning. Our purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

We solve the world's most complex problems and deliver what seems impossible. We explore challenges with curiosity and creativity - using technology, imagination and rigour to deliver remarkable outcomes.

The Opportunity

Our apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a college, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development.

Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeships have a typical duration of three years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you'll continue to progress with Arup once you've completed your course.

**Structural Engineering - Level 3 Apprenticeship**

We are looking for Buildings Structures Technicians to join one of our our Properties and Social Infrastructure (PSI) teams in Belfast. You'll join a community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification, and you'll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients.

You would be based in Bedford House within walking distance of Belfast City Centre. You would work alongside and be taught by the teams who designed the new Belfast Transport Hub, Windsor Park National Football Stadium, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Connswater Community Greenway and many more prestigious landmark projects. While you'll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we'll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills.

Across all teams, you'll support a variety of different work, including:

- Production of engineering drawings and sketches, including 3D or 2D computer drawings
- Production of Building Information Models (BIM)
- Preparation of simple engineering calculations
- Contributing to solutions for design challenges
- Taking part in design meetings, site visits, presentations and workshops
- Helping with the administration of projects

You'll help a team including engineers and technicians who work with architects to model, draw and assist in designing structures made of steel, concrete, timber, stone, glass and other construction materials. The structures you help to design will form the frames and foundations of all kinds of buildings - from brand new sports stadia, schools and universities, to offices and industrial premises. You could also get involved in the computer modelling and drawing of external parts of buildings, such as car parks and landscaping. You will also have the advantage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, which enables us to design buildings collaboratively using computer models.
- **_Five or more GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths_**:

- Interest in using computers for design work
- Creative and inquisitive approach to problem solving
- The ability to organise your own work and always be on time
- Good written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Lots of enthusiasm for this learning and development opportunity

**Building Services - Mechanical - Level 3 Apprenticeship**

Building Services engineering encapsulates systems such as heating, ventilation, lighting, power, water services, life-safety systems and data communications. Building Information Modelling (BIM) enables us to design and visualise buildings collaboratively using 3D models and information to aid in the delivery of our projects.

You will work on a variety of projects across different sectors, including education, commercial, sports, health and industry. This has recently included projects such as the Belfast Transport Hub, Windsor Park National Football Stadium and Altnagelvin Hospital.

As an apprentice, you will be working with and supported by other apprentices and BIM technicians using digital tools to create intelligent 3D models and drawings to communicate the Arup design. You will be working towards becoming a Building Services BIM Technician responsible for 3D model and drawing production, information management and digital collaboration.
