As Assistant Director of External Affairs you will lead the development and delivery of Terrence Higgins Trust’s influencing strategy. This pivotal role will make an active contribution to effecting change in the external environment, reducing inequalities in the area of HIV and sexual health and working towards the elimination of HIV transmissions in the UK by 2030.

We are looking for a strong strategic thinker to lead our Policy and Public Affairs, Media & PR departments. You will work closely with the CEO and the Executive team on the charity’s external engagement programmes, ensuring a high impact and profile for this work.

You will have excellent political, communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as management experience of policy, public affairs and campaigning work.

We are looking for someone with a sound political judgement and an understanding of the political landscape. You will lead Terrence Higgins Trust’s active programme of parliamentary lobbying work at Westminster, Edinburgh and Cardiff and ensure that our campaigning work is informed by our service users

**The organisation**

Terrence Higgins Trust was set up in 1982 following the death of its namesake, Terry Higgins, who was one of the very first people to die of an AIDS-related illness in the UK. As an organisation we are always aiming to ensure we are always meeting the needs of people affected by HIV and poor sexual health.
