Payroll Supervisor

**This is a 12 month fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.**
**Salary c£30,000 dependent on experience + excellent benefits**
**Job Purpose**:
- To supervise the payroll function to ensure employees are paid accurately on a timely basis.
**Working location**:
The role is based in the MediaCityUK (Salford) office but there may be a hybrid arrangement of time in the office and working from home.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Payroll**:
- Fully understand and manage the Select Pay payroll system.
- Ensure payments of the correct salary taking into account the correct gross salary and other payments and deductions.
- Ensure all deduction for NI, PAYE, Pensions, SMP& SPP etc are paid to the correct authorities on the correct days.
- Process absence within the payroll process and ensure payments are correct to company policy.
- Ensure all payroll accounts in the nominal ledger are correctly reconciled.
- Ensure all payroll queries are dealt with as they arise.
- Ensure correct treatment of all advances. Review with the Payroll & Treasury Manager processes and procedures.
- Work with the Payroll & Treasury Manager to prepare all statutory returns P60’s P11D’S, class 1A NIC’s, P46.
- Understand and work with the Payroll & Treasury Manager to complete the PSA on time. Keep the PSA process and expense dispensation is up to date.
- Provide cover for Pension Contributions to be uploaded to Standard Life ensuring deadline dates are met.
- Casual payroll - ensure all payments are in accordance with Casual contracts and correct treatment of PAYE & NI.
- Overseas payrolls - work with 3rd party payroll partners to ensure correct salary and related payments are made.
**Commission / bonus payments**:
- Process commission and bonus payments in accordance with the company guidelines.
**Expenses (credit card and cash)**:
- Ensure all expenses are in accordance with expenses guidelines.
- Ensure expenses are paid on a timely basis. Review the processes and procedure to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Issuing of Company Credit Cards.
- Review the controls and procedures with the Payroll & Treasury Manager regarding the company credit cards.
- Process expenses and authorise to create a download into Select Pay.
- Ensure VAT is accounted for correctly on all expenses and liaise with the Financial Accountant to sign off on behalf of this area on each VAT return.
**Other**:
- Liaise with internal/external auditors where necessary
**Skills and Experience**:
- Part or fully qualified CIPP Payroll professional e.g. CIPP Diploma in Payroll and Payroll Management.
- Competent in processing payrolls and dealing with all related tax, NI & pension deductions
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised, taking responsibility for own actions.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentational).
- Socially confident, with diplomacy and organisational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manipulate and interpret data.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Team player.
- Enthusiastic self starter who can work under time pressure.
- Good Excel skills are an advantage; however, training will be provided if necessary.
- Provide a positive customer experience for both internal customers and external suppliers.
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and being flexible in approach.
- To be able to work under pressure and to a high quality whilst ensuring timely delivery of duties.
