Here at GXO, we’re looking for a full-time, permanent, **Transport Planner** to join us at our busy Premier Foods site in Tamworth. You’ll be responsible for supporting the nationwide network of primary collections from our customers production factories and bakeries into our site and then distribute in the form of secondary deliveries direct to customer. We operate a fleet of core fleet vehicles that deliver 24/7/365. It’s a fast-paced environment where no day is ever the same, so you’ll need to be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations to make decisions that have a positive financial outcome for the operation.
You’ll be working an “Any 5 from 7” shift pattern, between the hours of 08:00 till 16.00.
**Pay, benefits and more**:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to **£29,500** per annum. In addition, we offer 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. **What you’ll do on a typical day**:
- Negotiating with third party hauliers and customers to secure external backhaul for our vehicles
- Compile a cost effective & legally compliant plan, ensuring full maximisation of our fleet
- Manage customer queries and attend meetings to fully understand any new requirements and special requests
- Query investigation and resolution of any operational issues whilst liaising closely with the transport team
- Ensuring all sites managed have a robust clearance plan to avoid factory production stoppages
**What you need to succeed at GXO**:
- High volume transport planning experience with customer booking processes and systems such as BluJay & Transporeon desirable
- Experience of subcontracting loads & bringing in external backhaul for fleet
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work under own initiative
