Support Worker/mentor

Permanent | Part-time | RC/KD
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced mentor/support worker to support a 21 year old young lady to develop her independent skills. You will be required to work with her family to follow her person-centred plan, to support her to develop her personal and independent skills. This could range from supporting her to develop strategies to maintain her personal care, enabling her to access social opportunities, learning independent living skills to supporting her at volunteering or work placements.
You will have experience working with people with autism and understand the need for good communication skills and the patience and ability to diffuse anxiety and provide encouragement.
You must be able to work on your own initiative, have great communication skills, be patient and caring and able to provide support in a non-jugemental and age appropriate way. You must be an animal lover and be willing to support with training sessions for a therapy dog.
You must be a car driver, with a clean licence and access to your own vehicle which you can use for work. You will need an enhanced DBS check, which can be provided if you do not already have one.
The post attracts a rate of pay of £16.20 per hour, 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata and including bank holidays). You will have access to a NEST pension scheme if desired.
