Are you a Theatre Practitioner looking for a Band 6 opportunity and would like to join our team at Somerset Foundation Trust (SFT) working in one of our community hospitals. If so we have a Junior Sister/Team leader role for a highly motivated RN/ODP to work out at Minehead Community Hospital Day Unit. The Day Unit is a spacious self-contained unit within the hospital and consists of one Theatre an admission area and recovery ward along with consulting rooms, coffee room and a staff change.

This small Theatre team, working under the Surgical Directorate, works flexibly together to provide high quality patient care to patients who require local anaestheic surgery. Specialties include, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Orthopedics and Podiatric surgery and we are looking to expand capacity and types of surgery performed at this ideally placed fantastic facility.

Day to day you will need to work autonomously being line managed by the Theatre Matron team at our Acute Hospital, Musgrove Park. You will be fully supported by your peers on the Musgrove site who work across 16 theatres over 4 Theatre Blocks performing a wide range of specialist surgery.

**Key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Working in theatre including scrubbing for all specialties as required
- Coordinating the Theatre team and producing Staff rosters
- Coordinating the unit and it’s activity alongside our scheduling team
- Co-coordinating the transportation and sterilisation of equipment with Sterile Services at Musgrove.
- Ordering of disposable stock items and the replacement and maintenance of non-disposable equipment.
- Working collaboratively with the surgeons, Admission team and the Theatre team at Musgrove Park to achieve consistent high quality safe care to patients whilst balancing that with an efficient service.
- Responsible for managing staff absence and completing Career Conversations with the support of the Matron team.

Responsible for providing leadership to the theatre teams within the department.

Demonstrate a leading by example style of leadership with clinical credibility maintaining visibility and accessibility to both staff and patients, including undertaking direct patient care.
