The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639 Plus, a plus a Shift Allowance of 12.5%, a location allowance of £1,841. and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Digital Intelligence Services sits within the Met Intelligence command, and comprises of Communications Intelligence, i3 (opens source) and ANPR. Communications Intelligence is responsible for supporting the MPS with access and advice to the wide variety of digital material generated in our daily lives; use of mobile telephony, the internet, social media, digital apps and the services connected to them, from vehicles to smart watches.

Communications intelligence provides both intelligence and evidential products to support investigators. The unit is well known for providing a 24/7 service to deal with life at risk, we provide a critical business function specialising in locating vulnerable people and supporting proactive policing.

Day to day, the unit supports on average 12 -14 threats to life incidents and provides the intelligence behind proactive work across Met. To meet these needs to unit continues to expand and we are recruiting to fill a number of additional posts.

As a Band E SPoC we are seeking individuals with a strong work ethic and drive to deliver practical solutions to policing challenges. You will do this by facilitating the acquisition of Communications Data in a timely manner. You will be expected to help translate the legal processes involved in data acquisition into everyday language and practical options for investigators.

Please note this role is working Monday - Friday working a mixture of early and late shifts. There is no weekend working in this role.

We are seeking new members to our team from a variety of backgrounds to reflect the many and increasingly wide use of Communications Data in policing - from helping locate a missing person, safeguarding children, protecting the public from online harassment to the investigation of road traffic collisions. No extensive experience in the use of communications data is required, but an appreciation as to the possibilities and a willingness to learn.

The role is demanding and involves confidence with both IT systems and handling data. We work with a number of bespoke IT workflow solutions; you should be willing to learn and adapt to a constantly changing environment.

The CIU is responsible for researching and providing access to new connected technologies such as data provided by ‘apps’. You will be an important part in building this part of our expanding business area. We will help you understand the overlap between the different areas of Digital Intelligence Services and offer the opportunity to expand your knowledge around social media, cellular networks, and online platforms.

We will build on your enthusiasm by helping you achieve a national accreditation, followed by ongoing professional training. Prior to going on your course you will be provided expert training to assist you with a good working knowledge of the investigatory powers act.

**You will**
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to officers and staff around the practical use of Communications Data to help them deal with both fast time incidents and reactive investigations.
- Help explain the world of digital investigation to colleagues who often have little practical experience of how to obtain it or use in policing.
- Identify and acquire communications data from communication service providers (CSPs) to support investigations and crime prevention activity.
- Evaluate acquired data to ensure compliance with the notice/authorisation issued.
- Identify reportable and recordable errors and take appropriate action under codes of practice so that information is accurate and properly supports crime prevention activities.
- Comply with all relevant legislation, such as IPA,CPIA, DPA
- Provide MPS primary support to critical incidents and life at risk scenarios.
