The World Today is read by Chatham House members, subscribers and our diverse and global audiences. It plays a crucial role to help accomplish our mission by publishing thought-provoking articles for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of international affairs.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Generate ideas for stories and new ways of implementing them across print and digital channels;
- Commission content and work with in-house and external contributors and producers to deliver to spec;
- Write and edit content;
- Proof pages of the magazine during production;
- Build web pages in the CMS, ensuring best-practice SEO is employed;
- Optimise print content for digital publication;
- Contribute to social media and newsletter content and management;
- Provide administrative support.

**People**:

- Work collaboratively with team members, freelance production staff and contributors, ensuring deadlines are met;
- Liaise with institute colleagues to ensure that The World Today’s editorial priorities and timetables align with broader Chatham House priorities.

**Strategy**:

- Develop relationships with relevant colleagues within Chatham House and understand the institute’s strategic priorities;
- Seek and engage potential new contributors to the magazine, within Chatham House and beyond;
- Deputise for the Editor on editorial and content matters;
- Use data and research to analyse content performance, inform content decisions and understand audience needs and behaviour.

**Requirements**:
**Person specification**:

- Proven experience in a journalistic role dealing with international affairs and foreign policy;
- Strong writing and editing skills in digital and print journalism;
- Experience of adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining the momentum of the production cycle;
- Experience with CMS, InDesign (or comparable design software), databases and MS Office;
- Experience of optimising print content for digital publication;
- Familiarity with SEO and social media platforms;
- Fluency in written English;
- Attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Ability to prioritise, multi-task and work independently and within a team.

**Salary**: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

**Contract**: Full-time, Permanent

**Location**:Hybrid (Office/Home), minimum 2 days in the office per week.
