We are delighted to be advertising this exciting opportunity to make a real contribution to the leadership and development of child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and Adult Community Eating Disorder Services in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW). Following the retirement of the current postholder this post we have identified resource to support a full-time role to reflect the importance of senior psychological leadership in developing our services to provide excellent care for our service users across BSW. We are happy, though, to hear from potential applicants who would be interested in a post from 0.6wte upwards or from applicants on a job-share basis and to discuss how the role might be adapted to accommodate this.
The successful applicant will lead a team of professional leads for Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Community Nursing to ensure the highest standards of governance and quality in service provision. The post-holder will also be responsible for supervising the Psychological Therapies clinical lead for our all age eating disorder service. They will be a key member of the BSW senior leadership team, driving service improvement and transformation across the division.
The Head of Psychological Therapies will provide clinical leadership across the whole system. This will include developing improved pathways and transitions for people aged 16-25 in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and in close collaboration with Integrated Care System partners and other key stakeholders. An important aspect of this role will be to ensure that a culture of research, continuous quality improvement and digital innovation is maintained and developed in the service.
For this role you will be a highly experienced Psychological Therapist with significant experience at Consultant level and will be able to draw on experience of shaping and developing services as well as leading psychological service provision at scale. Dynamic, patient focused and a team player, you will be ready to take up the invitation to work closely with our other service and clinical leads and to make a significant contribution to the development of the service overall. You will be able to think strategically, work collaboratively with system partners and possess the influence and persuading skills that are needed to bring about the cultural change that’s required to deliver improved outcomes for the population.
Alongside this post will sit an Assistant Psychologist at 0.8 wte.
Oxford Health offers great CPD and training opportunities, with excellent links with the Oxford Centre for Psychological Health and Oxford Institute for Clinical Psychology Training, which are hosted by the Trust. We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology Training programme at the University of Bath. We actively encourage innovation, quality improvement, and research with opportunities for collaborations with the Universities of Bath, Oxford, Oxford Brookes, Buckinghamshire and the University of the West of England.
This post will report professionally to the Associate Director for Psychological Services who will supervise and support you in developing this new and important role. The role will work closely with the Head of Service, Service Managers and Associate Medical Director. There will be opportunities to meet and maintain contact with other psychological therapy leads in the organisation. We will work with you to identify additional supervision and development needs and to identify how to meet these.
