Job Opportunity: BSL Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Long-term | Full-time | Contract

Daily rate: £87.10 minimum

Location: Clapham Junction, South London

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' all through School in Clapham Junction as a Teaching Assistant proficient in British Sign Language (Level 1 and above). This school boasts a substantial SEND department, particularly for students with visual and hearing impairment. With three new students arriving in December, we seek a dedicated individual for 1:1 support, specifically trained in BSL and confident in its use as the primary form of communication.

This full-time support role spans five days a week, offering flexibility with the potential for additional days if desired.

Ideal Requirements:

- British Sign Language (B.S.L.) qualification
- Experience working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs
- Ability to convey B.S.L. from hearing-impaired students to non-signing students
- Dedication, engagement, and inspiration
- Commitment to ensuring pupils make good, sustained progress
- Recent experience in supporting individuals with additional needs.
- Ready for an immediate start as a Youth Support Worker.
- Willingness to undergo child and adult DBS clearance through Lara Search.
