Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Kitchen Duties
- Under the direction of the Head Chef, provide any food required for the various services offered at the college and play an active role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- To maintain consistently high food standards and quality across all areas and during all stages of production and supply
- To ensure minimum wastage within the department.
- Assisting the Head Chef with stock control & stock replenishment, which will include placing orders and accepting and checking orders upon delivery.
- Work with the Head Chef to develop the food offering and play an active role in the delivery of new menus.
- To contribute to all kitchen processes, including following cleaning rota’s and closing down procedures.
Service Duties
- Meet the high standards of display and visual merchandising to ensure the catering offering is well presented at all times.
- Demonstrate good product knowledge to customers and be confident when dealingwith customers that require assistance.
- To engage customers in providing feedback on the food being delivered in order to work with the Catering & Retail manager and Head Chef to implement improvements within the catering department.
- Ensuring both internal & external customers receive the best possible customer service at all times.
Health and Safety
- To ensure the College’s Health and Safety Policies are followed closely in all activities.
- To understand and have a working knowledge of all current Health and Safety legislation, Food Hygiene legislation, Allergen legislation and to be conversant with the rules contained therein.
- To participate in HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) procedures according to the College’s Food Safety Management document.
- To meet quality control measures and hygiene standards at all times.
Other
- Report any maintenance issues you have to a senior member of the team.
- Undertake any training the role requires.
- Report all accidents/sickness following the College’s procedures.
- Undertaking any other task that may be reasonably expected within the scope of this role as directed by your line manager.
Hours of work:
- To work mainly between the hours of 7am-3pm, Monday to Friday during term time, however there is a need to be flexible with this role, as there may be occasions where business needs require you to work outside of the usual college openinghours and term times.
