**JOB PURPOSE**:To provide point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff. Must have a strong telephone manner.
**PERSONEL SPEC**: Essential - Excellent communication skills, verbally & written. Be able to work effectively under pressure. Have good IT skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Maintain confidentiality in all situations. Work effectively within a team and individually. Be reliable and flexible.
**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Business Manager
**DUTIES OF RECEPTIONIST**
**RECEPTION DUTIES**
Receiving and directing patients through Care Navigation
Answering all enquiries from patients and other visitors
Entering requests for Home Visits
Accepting and entering requests for prescriptions
Explain practice arrangements to new patients and temporary residents and complete necessary forms
Ensure all outgoing mail ready for collection by Courier
Ensure reception is kept neat and tidy
**COMPUTER**
To be able to access and close down computer system
Training to be given on Emis software system used in surgery
Enter appointments for all surgeries on a daily basis
Ensure appointment screen kept up to date throughout the day
**FILING AND RECORD DUTIES**
Compiling new patient records
Scanning and filing correspondence in computer (Docman training given)
Filing of general correspondence
Checking stationery stock
**TELEPHONE DUTIES**
Receive and make calls as required using Care Navigation. **Care navigators** are receptionists/administration staff who have been given specialist training to help them direct patients to the right health professional first time.
**GENERAL DUTIES**
Operating photocopier
Opening, entering and posting mail
Opening premises in morning and securing them at night
Operate alarm system
Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post
Post is initially temporary for 6 months with the opportunity for a permanent contract after this time.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £11.24 per hour
