The infant feeding team have been awarded funds from the family hub and an exciting opportunity for a band 7 infant feeding expert for South and Central Manchester. As a senior member of Children’s Community Services - Infant Feeding Team, the post holder will work across the south and central Manchester, to offer specialist interventions for families experiencing urgent, complex or challenging infant feeding issues.

This will include a home visiting service and clinic cover for mothers and babies experiencing urgent, complex or ongoing feeding challenges. Supporting women and babies to establish and sustain effective breast feeding and working to clinical pathways to ensure babies experiencing feeding difficulties with cows milk protein allergy, reflux, lactose intolerance or ankyloglossia are supported to reduce the need for GP and hospital admission/referral. The post holder may be required to attend any of our three maternity units at North Manchester, St. Marys and Wythenshawe hospitals as well as attend meetings and events to ensure smooth running of the service.

As part of the Infant Feeding Team the post holder will be expected to drive forward initiatives to ensure ‘high impact areas’ for Health Visiting are achieved and service needs are developed. This will include targets around breastfeeding, infant allergy, reflux management and children who are faltering to grow, overweight or obese. The post holder is responsible for allocation of work to appropriate clinicians within the team and supporting the wider team to coordinate services across Manchester.
