We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Admin Support Clerk to join MCHFT’s Clinical Coding Department.

The post holder will need to be prepared to work in a flexible environment and meet the physical demands of the role, which includes standing for long periods of time throughout the day and sometimes includes heavy lifting.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.

The daily duties could include any of those detailed below, dependent upon the flow of the workload that day:
1. Scanning of patient records and managing associated patient attending lists.
2. Co-ordinating scanned documents and linking to the Digital Patient Record system.
4. Checking patient details and the case note location on the electronic tracking system and recording this information.
5. Required to plan, organise and prioritise own workload daily, using their organisational awareness and understanding of how case notes are used and travel around the hospital.
6. Retrieval of case notes from clinical and non-clinical areas within the hospital and take them to the coding department, this requires the development of good working relationships and the use of negotiation skills.
7. To work in a flexible environment, including being prepared to lift and move boxes, stand for long periods of time and after undergoing training, cover all aspects of work.
8. Where case notes cannot be located, the post holder will be required to work within set parameters, but often necessary to use own judgement and initiative to decide which action is appropriate and in what order the subsequent actions should be carried out.
9. Pulling notes for audits and other projects within the department.
10. Preparation and organisation of the case notes for weekly Mortality Review.
11. Collection and delivery of case notes and documentation to and from wards and departments.
12. To ensure all Elmhurst notes are secured and ready for transportation to Elmhurst.
13. Hand delivering case notes required urgently if necessary.
14. To ensure work is carried out in compliance with agreed Health & Safety Standards.
15. To support the department with other admin tasks, as and when required.
