The Opportunity:
Do you want to conduct research in computational and systems biology, embedded in one of two world-leading research centres? Do you want to help build algorithms and mathematical models for predicting changes in tissue state from complex multi-modal data, as part of an international collaboration?

We are seeking two postdoctoral research fellows for an ongoing collaboration between the Schumacher group (Edinburgh) and Sander lab (Harvard). You should have analytical and computational skills, experience of working with complex datasets and a **strong interest in developing quantitatively predictive models of biological systems that connect molecular data to dynamic cell and tissue states in health and disease. **One of the fellows will be based at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University of Edinburgh, and the other at the Department of Systems Biology, Harvard Medical School.

Key concepts: cell-cell dynamics, cell fate decisions, cell state transitions, spatial transcriptomics, protein mass spectrometry, large scale perturbation-response data, computational cell biology

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Experience in the development of computational or mathematical models of biological systems
- Competence in scientific computer programming in Python, Julia, or a computer programming language with similar capabilities
- In-depth knowledge of statistics and statistical methods, including Bayesian statistics and/or machine learning
- Experience working with single cell “omics” data, multimodal and/or spatial data
- Experience of collaborating with experimental “wet lab” biologists
