This is an opportunity to work closely with leadership in NHS England, the Midlands and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The post is newly created and will work with both Trust leadership and NHS England in addressing some of the inequalities in rural and coastal healthcare in Lincolnshire and to embed the Patient and Carers Race Equality Framework (PCREF) across LPFT and in the system where appropriate.

We are looking for someone with the passion to tackle inequalities in Lincolnshire’s rural and coastal communities and embed the PCREF at an operational, and occasionally strategic level. The postholder should have the ability to manage projects and work with communities and wider partners for a system-wide approach. The role will also develop knowledge of the needs of rural and coastal communities to address and enact meaningful change in the longer term, using a population health management approach.

The role is full-time, with the postholder to be based at the Trust Headquarters in Lincoln. The Trust’s Medical Director will also act as the main supervisor to the postholder, as the Executive Lead for Health Inequalities.

Working alongside LPFT colleagues and wider stakeholders across Lincolnshire, such as the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System (ICS) to address mental healthcare inequalities in rural and coastal communities.

Implementation of PCREF across the organisation and beyond where appropriate.

Involvement in existing research pertaining to health inequalities alongside partners such as the University of Lincoln.

The Fellowship also involves collaborating with NHS England (Midlands), in making tangible and objective goals.

The postholder will work alongside Dr Girish Kunigiri, who is the Medical Director, who will be the main supervisor and the Executive Lead for Health Inequalities in the Trust. The postholder will also have to have project management, leadership and engagement skills, as well as working knowledge of population health management.

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the principal provider of NHS mental health services, as well as providing some learning disability, autism, and social care services across the county. We were one of the first foundation trusts to be established in the country. The Trust has an annual income of approximately £120m with around 2,800 staff spread across the 40+ locations. The Trust cares for around 53,000 patients a year and has around 200 inpatient beds across the Trust.

The Trust has an active and successful research department. We deliver an impressive portfolio of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) clinical trials across the county, covering all areas of clinical care. A team of NIHR funded delivery staff support this work. The Trust has established a strong track record for delivery of industry trials and was highly praised by CQC for our commitment to dementia research. We are a partner organisation of NIHR Clinical Research Network East Midlands (CRN EM) and the Lincoln Institute for Health, University of Lincoln.
