**Please note that this is an apprenticeship position and therefore anyone with more than six months professional experience working as a software tester or who holds an ISTQB foundation certificate will will not be eligible.**

**You will also need to commit to completing a Level 4 Software Tester Apprenticeship.**

**Job Purpose**

As our Quality Assurance (QA) apprentice, you will assist the QA team in Ofqual’s Information Management (IM) team with, devising and running automated test scripts. Considering business requirements to write new tests. Completing manual and exploratory testing across new functionality as well as existing components. Investigating reported issues from our users and logging and resolving bugs.

You will participate in all phases of a project, from user story review, test design, demos to final system testing and launch. You will work as part of an Agile team and have strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a strong attention to detail.

**Key accountabilities**
- Work as a QA technician managing both automated and manual workloads
- Consider business requirements for ongoing work and take responsibility for the implementation of new tests in accordance with user needs and Ofqual objectives
- Review user stories and acceptance criteria, ensure business requirements are fully understood by development teams, including external suppliers, and investigate and communicate if further clarity is required
- Understand, map and document test plans against business processes and services for a range of large and complex programmes
- Manage internal and external users and relationships effectively
- Use software systematically and in accordance with test plans

**Qualifications**
- Minimum: 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including maths and English Language

**Training to be provided**

As part of the Level 4 Software Tester apprenticeship standard, you’ll be registered as a member with the British Computer Society and be on a fast track to an industry recognised qualification and your dedicated industry coach will support you through a blended approach that will include remote, in person, 1-2-1 and and group learning.
