**Head of Psychology**
The Psychology department consists of two members of staff including the Head of Department and one part-time member of staff. The spirit of the department is collaborative with the sharing of resources at all levels.
The Psychology department regularly sends undergraduates to top universities in the country to read Psychology, Sociology, Social Science, Anthropology, or related courses such as Law. In recent years, the department has run three groups in each of the L6 and U6 year groups. The L6 are taught a range of modules including research methods (and an academic presentation building on this topic), memory, social influence, psychopathology, attachment, and approaches. In U6, students build on these, adding modules on aggression, cognition, and development, schizophrenia, and issues and debates. All students have 6 50-minute lessons per week with the two teachers.
Psychology is currently taught in Years 12 and 13 via the AQA syllabus. The Psychology Department at Lord Wandsworth College is a lively, dynamic environment, where ideas are always welcomed. The students achieve good A-level results, and Psychology is one of the most popular A level choices for our students.
Each classroom is equipped with wireless internet access and a Smart TV. Pupils access resources via their own devices and teaching is supported by Microsoft OneNote.
You will be expected to carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the College’s policies under the direction of the Headmaster. Teaching at LWC requires that members of the academic staff be willing to contribute fully to the life of the College. This includes tutoring, co-curricular involvement, boarding house duties, cover duties and attending parents’ evenings for the year groups taught. Liaison with parents is included in the sphere of the teacher’s responsibilities.
