Purchasing Officer

**Reporting to**: Finance Director

**Job Purpose**

To operate purchasing for the business - ensure the basics are in place so we do not have stock outs and are proactively engaging with and managing our suppliers. Improving internal processes and systems, build relationships with suppliers and reduce spend through product/supplier reviews.

**Summary**

**Duties include**:
Stock & Materials Usage
- Ensure there is a robust system to review stock levels regularly to maintain stock at economic levels to meet the business’s needs
- Make sure stock prices are always up to date and fully maintained on the Window Designer costing system
- Monitor materials usage, identify and report on material waste and improve utilisation
- Creation and maintenance of Sage stock codes and mapping to Window Designer codes
- Maintain raw materials stock value within agreed total

Purchasing
- Ensure all purchases are ordered correctly, on time, of the correct quality and the best prices
- Monitor, report on and proactively manage the performance of suppliers in terms of product quality, service levels, pricing and security of supply
- Ensure any supplier invoice queries are dealt with accurately and promptly
- Ensure all purchases are best value for money and best quality
- Review supplier options to ensure we are getting the right products at the best value for money
- Source new products and instigate developments of existing products and services to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Improve the current ordering process to automate as much as possible

Other Duties
- Review and action all NCRs and complaints including completing root cause analysis and implementing required actions in a timely manner
- Implement consistent communication systems internally & externally with the relevant contacts
- Liaise with other departments/department managers to highlight any upcoming issues that the rest of the team need to be aware of

**Minimum Requirements**
- Product knowledge or previous experience in a Purchasing role
- Good Excel and IT skills
- Strong commercial acumen
- Excellent attention to detail

**Hours of work**:08:00 - 17:00 Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00 Friday

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £23,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
