The main purpose of the role is to develop intelligence taking account of policing priorities and the threat, harm, and risk in support of operational activity.

To provide 24/7 live-time intelligence capability and enable the effective management of threat, harm, and risk associated with:
Live-time intelligence support

Live-time ANPR monitoring in line with national standards

Daily Tasking Processes

Intelligence-led live briefing

Out of hours capability for high-risk intelligence requirements.

To produce actionable intelligence products for use by operational teams and commanders, including firearms, public order, and major incidents.

**Main Responsibilities**:
To provide dynamic live-time intelligence, including supporting the OCC Inspector, Silver Cadre and force operations as required. Completing relevant threat harm and risk assessments including recommendations around opportunities for further intelligence development or to help resolve the incident.

Proactively identify, gather, and evaluate intelligence to meet operational and strategic intelligence requirements. Identify trends, series, and linked occurrences, ensuring that intelligence relating to threat, harm or risk is managed as a priority.

Produce intelligence products linked to operational activity to support decision making to proactively target crime and criminals prioritising the force and local control strategy.

Support the force response to ANPR activations in an accurate and timely manner and provide evidential products as required.

Conduct intelligence driven briefing, tasking, and debriefing to support organisational objectives. Manage and facilitate the force tasking process, including creating of daily tasking documents, coordinating the force daily tasking meetings, and providing briefing to senior officers as required.

Act as the force gateway for intelligence requests from internal and external stakeholders, including local, regional, and national law enforcement partners, the ROCU network and CT Policing.

Where necessary obtain covert authorities, warrants and equipment in accordance with legislation and policy.

Provide intelligence support for major incidents and enquiries.

Provide continuity for exhibits and act as exhibits officer if required within the intelligence development of an operation / project.

Engage with external agencies / partners as required, seeking to nurture relationships to enable the dynamic two-way passage of intelligence.

Maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the role.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required, including the need to conduct field activity if deemed necessary to support the wider intelligence function.

**Knowledge**:
Minimum of A Level / NVQ Level 3, or equivalent OR substantial proven experience within a intelligence or investigative role.

Detailed understanding of the National Intelligence Model.

Knowledge of the Management of Police Information (MOPI) policy, disclosure and information sharing principles.

Knowledge of intelligence policy and procedures.

College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Qualification (to complete within 12 months of appointment), and continued IPP compliance.

**Experience**:
Relevant and recent experience of working within an intelligence-based environment.

Good knowledge of the intelligence processes and cycle including the National Intelligence Model.

Experience of researching information from a variety of sources.

Experience of interrogating, maintaining and utilising data on a variety of computerised systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Experience of preparing detailed reports and presenting information in a variety of formats.

**Key Skills**:
Ability to write detailed reports and other documents.

Able to communicate with a range of stakeholders to provide information and intelligence and ensure understanding.

Skilled in using specialised and standard software related to own area of work to extract, analyse, and report on data.

Able to identify potential opportunities to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness within own area of work, including developing own knowledge to increase effectiveness.

Able to break down a problem into component parts and determine appropriate action.

Able to appropriately prioritise and plan own work.

Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and other stakeholders.
