**Background to the post**

The Head of Department Supported Learning, Re-engagement & Schools is responsible for the management of the curriculum area. With direct accountability for the success and positive progression of the student cohort under the leadership of the Director of Schools, Re-Engagement & SEND.

The post holder will be accountable for curriculum management, resource & financial management, and quality improvement.

Through the effective deployment of resources and College systems and procedures, the post holder will ensure that each student has access to and receives an outstanding experience. High quality teaching, learning and assessment that will ensure our students develop the Warwickshire College ‘T-shaped’ employability skills to gain a competitive advantage as they progress towards and along their chosen careers.

Whilst working within the core values and through continuous improvement, the post holder will develop the curriculum area to meet or exceed the College’s KPIs.

The person appointed will report to the Director of Schools, Re-Engagement & SEND.

**Place of Work - Pershore College**

Our Pershore College centre is a national centre for horticulture situated on a 60-hectare site near Evesham, specialising in land-based learning. The college has also been producing award-winning fruit juice, craft cider, and perry for more than twenty years. Facilities for Pershore include commercial orchards, horticultural machinery and equipment and a dog grooming salon.

**Essential Attainments**:

- Educated to Level 4 in Supported Learning or a directly related discipline.
- Internal Verification Award.
- Teacher Qualified.

**Desirable Attainments**:

- Qualification in management.

**Essential Key Experiences and Attributes**:

- Experience as a Manager working with students.
- Extensive experience in the Supported Learning sector.
- Proven track record of improving and sustaining above benchmark success rates.
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating student progress to improve success rates.
- Experience of performance and impact management of teams.
- Successful outcomes with Awarding Bodies and partners to achieve desired outcomes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A flexible and enthusiastic approach.
- The ability to relate well with staff and students.
- The ability to be self-motivated and to motivate others.
- Good problem solving skills.
- The ability to work to deadlines.
- Behaviours which support the core values of the College.
- A willingness to undertake continuing professional development.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
