Leicester, United Kingdom University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Full time

Are you a physiotherapist or occupational therapist who is passionate about delivering the best, person-centred patient care - and equally passionate about supporting and developing our workforce to enable them to deliver such care? Do you have significant leadership experience and the skills to be a compassionate, collaborative leader in a large, complex organisation?

**It is an exciting time here in therapies at UHL**: we are developing our new vision and workforce strategies, working closely with our medical, nursing and other AHP colleagues both here and across the wider system to ensure we deliver the right care for patients at the right time. At UHL we have a vast range of specialist therapy teams, making this an exciting and interesting place to work and lead.

We have a workforce of talented, innovative and dedicated clinicians and we need an additional inspirational leader to drive and support some of our service improvement and development plans - alongside ensuring our teams have the day to day operational management support they need.

You will receive support and development opportunities for your own career as a leader and work in an environment that listens, values and engages with its staff at all levels. We have a new Chief AHP starting in role in March which will further support and drive our exciting plans

Come and join our journey

As deputy to the Head of Therapies the post holder will be expected to:

- Work with our Therapy Specialty management teams, developing and implementing local workforce and service development plans and ensuring achievement of performance objectives.
- Work within the Therapy Management Team to provide operational business management and planning support across all Therapy service areas
- Be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of Therapy services guaranteeing provision of a high quality clinical service
- Work closely with the Head of Therapies to lead our vision and future workforce plans, and to deputise for UHL Head of Therapies as appropriate
- Support and lead Trust-wide and system-wide developments
- Support and drive a quality improvement culture across our therapy services

You will need to be a confident communicator with a range of audiences, as this role will involve working with senior leaders across the Trust, from the Trust Executive team to leads of the different Clinical Medical Groups as well as clinicians on the front line and patients.

Therefore I am looking for a person with a transformation mindset, excellent project management skills, the ability to manage several complex workstreams at the same time and above all an interest in people and their development - and who feels that the Trust's values align with their own.

We are one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the country, incorporating the General, Glenfield and Royal Infirmary hospitals. We have our very own Children’s Hospital and run one of the country’s leading heart centres.

Our team is made up of more than 17,000 staff providing a range of services primarily for the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We work with partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University providing world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, many of whom go on to spend their working lives with us.

Our purpose is to provide ‘Caring at its best’ and our staff have helped us create a set of values that embody who we are and what we’re here to do. They are:

- We focus on what matters most
- We treat others how we would like to be treated
- We are passionate and creative in our work
- We do what we say we are going to do
- We are one team and we are best when we work togethe

Our patients are at the heart of all we do and we believe that ‘Caring at its best’ is not just about the treatments and services we provide, but about giving our patients the best possible experience.

The key areas of responsibility fall under the following categories, and are detailed in full in the attached job description.
- Leadership
- Service Delivery
- Performance Management
- Financial and resource management
- Research and audit
- Governance
- Education and Teaching
- Maintaining Healthcare Standards
