Fundraising Officer

Working as part of the Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity team you’ll ensure that the charity is financially sustainable and widely recognised and supported by the local community and organisations.
You will be responsible for ensuring that Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity operates effectively and efficiently in compliance with legislation, Charity Commission guidelines, organisational policies and financial structures.
You’ll act as a helpful and knowledgeable representative of the Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity with donors, prospective donors, patients, volunteers, clinical staff, and trustees, and you will realise annual strategic fundraising plans.
You’ll have line management responsibility for a full-time Fundraising Assistant and part-time Administrator, ensuring that the charity is effective in its day-today operation to meet agreed targets and, together with the charity’s Communications & Marketing Officer, supporting the communication and engagement efforts of the charity.
You will play a key role in the support, development and delivery of an exciting annual strategic fundraising plan for Winchester Hospice. This will involve identifying innovative ways to generate sustainable income, while reaching out and managing existing community groups and businesses, identifying and developing new community and business relationships, with a focus on gaining philanthropic support.
We’d like the income that you generate to be sustainable, and this will require you to be well-planned annually.
You’ll be expected to research income generation and philanthropic trends using our CRM system, internet and networks to prioritise opportunities and develop effective fundraising strategies for the hospice including, but not limited to legacies, company/corporate, major donor, community and trust and foundation fundraising.
You will have responsibility for a full time Fundraising Assistant and a part-time Administrator, supporting the work that they do, championing achievements, and providing strong leadership. Across all your work you will always adhere to the trust’s core values of compassion, accountability, respect and encourage. You will ensure compliance with the Code of Fundraising Practice and the requirements of the Fundraising Regulator, making sure that your reports are doing this also. You’ll report progress against agreed objectives and targets regularly to Head of Charity and will contribute to the charity’s annual report to Charities Commission.
