**Purchase Ledger Clerk**
Chestnut Homes have been established for over 30 years. We are NHBC A1 rated; enjoy a reputation for building quality new homes, and most of our customers responding to questionnaires tell us that they will buy from us again.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this fulltime role will be part of a small team and responsible for the processing of appropriate documentation to ensure that the Company’s purchases are checked and recorded accurately, and that suppliers are paid correctly and on time.
You will be expected to:
- Plan your own workload to ensure all invoices are matched to delivery tickets, prices & quantities checked, coded & entered within deadlines
- Set up new supplier accounts and maintain existing account details.
- Reconcile supplier statements
- File invoices
- Act as a point of contact for all relevant enquiries
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Answer telephones
- General administrative support for the accounts department and Ad-hoc duties as required
To be successful in the role, you will need to possess:
- Previous high-volume purchase ledger experience,
- Excellent written, numerical & verbal communication skills,
- Strong PC and technical knowledge and skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft package, including Word, Excel, and Outlook,
- Ability to manage and organise files within the Windows filing system,
- Previous experience of Pegasus Opera and Pegasus CIS an advantage, but not essential,
- Understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme is again an advantage, but not essential
- Ability to handle a large volume of invoices and maintain an excellent attention to detail,
- Well organised, motivated, and self-disciplined with the ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure,
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective and positive working relationships within and outside of the department,
- Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and adopt a professional approach in all interactions should be transparent, open, and honest in all dealings,
- A flexible attitude to the team’s work, including a willingness to reprioritise and undertake additional tasks if required.
