Role Reporting to the Director of Academic Quality and Standards Division, this role is within the Academic Quality and Standards Division. The role of the Officer generally, is to provide support and expertise in matters relating to quality assurance and enhancement. The role will involve supporting the implementation of the Strategic Plan, specifically the Education Strategy, and supporting the work of committees and working groups for quality assurance and enhancement particularly in relation to supporting the partnership with Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Academic Quality and Standards sits within the overall directorate of Student Experience and Enhancement, who provide support and guidance to ensure students get the most out of the time they are with the University. Responsibilities and duties Strategic Plan Support
Support the implementation of the Strategic Plan and Education Strategy with particular reference to quality assurance and enhancement issues;
Be aware of the impact of the Strategic Plan objectives in relation to quality assurance matters and provide advice and information on how quality assurance processes may be revised and modified accordingly.
Support for XJTLU partnership
Provide support in respect of the co-ordination of interactions between the University and XJTLU;
Develop appropriate procedures to ensure effective quality assurance of provision delivered under the accreditation arrangement, to liaise with staff at both institutions to ensure the effective implementation of agreed quality assurance procedures;
Review and revise all such current quality assurance procedures, policies and regulations and draft new ones where necessary; ensure that all such developments are progressed through any required approval processes. This includes providing explanatory papers and detailed reports for the approving bodies;
Develop and present solutions to issues raised in relation to quality assurance policies and/or practices applicable to the XJTUL partnership, and draft relevant documentation as required;
Provide expert advice, training and support on quality assurance procedures, policies and regulations and communicating to staff any changes and updates to them;
Act as Committee Secretary and provide secretarial and administrative support to committees and working groups as required, producing accurate minutes of each meeting and preparing reports as required for the committees and working groups;
Manage the organisation of annual monitoring and accreditation visits to XJTLU and monitoring visits from XJTLU to UoL;
Act as Review Secretary and provide secretarial and administrative support for annual monitoring activity: visits to XJTLU and desk-based activity; this will necessitate occasional overseas travel;
Ensure that action points identified as part of annual monitoring activity are followed up appropriately;
Provide expert advice and guidance to relevant Groups and staff on the policies, regulations and practices that underpin the working relations and interactions with XJTLU;
Provide support for the approval of XJTLU programme validations and major modifications, maintaining detailed knowledge of and expertise in the quality assurance requirements and approval processes in UoL and XJTLU;
Manage the annual process for raising the invoice for accreditation and associated fee costs;
Manage the approval of external examiners, external reviewers and external moderators for the programmes offered with and at XJTLU;
Support the role of the Chief Institutional Moderator and the Chief External Examiner, ensuring actions arising from their annual reports are progressed appropriately;
