Anti-trafficking Casework Volunteer

Why we want you: The anti-trafficking team provide care and support to trafficked people and believe that anyone who has been exploited should be recognised and protected. As an anti-trafficking caseworker volunteer, you will have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of the people who have asked us for support. You will work as part of a small and supportive team to help survivors of trafficking, working to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, dealing with complex needs and personal information.- Tasks: Working as part of a small team
- Working with service users with complex needs and their personal information.
- Building relationships with service users who have experienced trafficking and provide them with support and advice in line with British Red Cross policies, procedures, and best practice.
- Talking to service users in a sensitive way to understand their needs, being mindful of their traumatic experiences.
- Working with the Anti-Trafficking officer to help Service Users access their rights and entitlements.
- Using your training to give emotional support to service users.
- Keeping our computer system up to date with detailed records.
- Helping service users make choices and take actions for themselves.
- Working closely with interpreters to support service users.
- Liaising with the Home Office, National Referral Mechanism (NRM) contractors and other charities advocating for the best interests of service users.
- Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding and protection issues.- Skills: Good communication skills
- Empathy and confidentiality
- Ability to learn and deal with the complexities that arise when working with survivors of human trafficking.
- Emotionally resilient to handle challenging situations.
- Experience of face-to-face client work or casework helpful, but not essential.
- Strong English skills. Knowledge of another language would be helpful.
