Overview of an Strategy and Policy Officer
Duties of a Strategy and Policy Officer:
- "To support the service in the development of evidence-based strategies and policies o the preparation of performance reports and the monitoring of performance- " To support the service in the delivery of service-specific improvement projects to support the service in the timescales and within budget- " To support the service in the collation and analysis of data to inform service improvements- " To support the service in the development and maintenance of robust systems and processes to support the delivery of policies, projects, programmes, and performance (including the collection and storage of data to improve efficiency)- " To support the service in the completion of data returns to meet both internal and external requirements- " To support the service in the identification of funding opportunities and the preparation of bids- " To support the service in the promotion of best practice and innovation in the Department with a key focus on delivering improvements, efficiency and effectiveness and the provision of high-quality services to residents- To support the Strategy Manager in producing briefings, reports, and communications on service specific topics- To undertake research and analysis using a range of tools and techniques for bespoke strategy and policy development as required by the service- To prepare and manage project plans including tracking activity and producing update reports as required- To undertake projects ensuring rigorous research and consultation methodologies are followed, that the research and analysis supports the project objectives and that consultations are well developed, and recommendations add significant value to existing service practices or servicesTo be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:
- Expert knowledge of local government strategy, policy, and performance, in particular performance monitoring and reporting, policy development and service planning.- Good understanding of performance management processes, reporting and impact.- Experience of collating and analysing data from a variety of sources and using this to prepare performance reports and presentations.- Experience of developing and maintaining robust systems and processes to support the delivery of policies, projects, programmes, and performance.- Experience of completing data and statistical returns as required by Government departments and external agencies.About Us
