Student Museum Assistants

The University of Aberdeen’s Museums and Special Collections require part-time, temporary Student Museum Assistants to welcome visitors to the Zoology Museum over the school summer and autumn holidays, and to ensure the safety and security of visitors and collections.

The posts will be based in the Zoology Museum, School of Biological Sciences.

**The role is open to current University of Aberdeen students at the time of starting the contract.**

**The role is 0.45fte (16.25 hours/week).**

There are two posts: one to cover morning shifts Mon-Fri 9.50 - 13.05, and one to cover afternoon shifts Mon-Fri 12.50 - 16.05.

**This is a short-term, part-time contract running 6 July - 22 August 2023 and 16 - 27 October 2023**.

The role will form part of the Museums & Special Collections public engagement team, whose principal goal is to increase access to the University’s rich collections of historic material and create new learning opportunities across the region. Museums and Special Collections is part of the University’s Directorate of Digital and Information Services.

Prior experience of working or volunteering in a museum, gallery, or heritage attraction, and/or working or volunteering with children and families is desirable, as is an interest in Zoology and the natural sciences.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 2, £21,134- £21,761 per annum, pro rata with placement according to qualifications and experience.
