An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in new fixed term position as an End of Life Matron.

The post holder will work in collaboration with the Lead Cancer Nurse, Cancer Clinicians and end of life services to ensure the effective delivery of end of life nursing utilising the provision of services from Allied Health Professionals and elements of psychosocial support services to ensure they are responsive to patient needs.

We require the post holder to have expert experience within Palliative Care and End of Life and the post holder must have a post registration qualification in this field. Educated to Masters Level or a willingness to undertake this further study.

Good communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team are essential.

The post holder will lead on the End of Life Strategy for the Trust in conjunction with the Specialist Palliative Care Medical and Nursing Teams.

They will develop excellence in clinical care for people with End of Life/ Palliative Care and their families throughout their journey, working closely with service users, providers and the management teams to improve the patient experience and achieve outcomes.

They will establish and maintain links with primary, community and voluntary care providers as well as the charitable sector both locally and nationally.

They will work closely with the Nurse Directors across the Trust and neighbouring organisations to take forward End of Life/ Palliative Care nursing practice and professional development in line with local, regional and national priorities.

They will develop a patient centred End of Life/ Palliative Care service that suits the needs of the local population and deliver the requirements of the NHS Long Term Plan.

This will include collaboration with key care providers and commissioners across the whole pathway from health promotion to end of life care/ life beyond cancer.

They will develop innovative models of care delivery to provide equity of access to resources that are responsive to both the changing landscape of healthcare and the patient need.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust strongly encourages new starters to have the Covid-19 vaccine. However, it is not a mandatory requirement to work for us.

**HUTH has two main sites**: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £800 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.

The Trust’s secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services. These services are provided primarily to a catchment population of approximately 600,000 in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.

HUTH provides specialist and tertiary services to a population of 1.25 million extending from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to Grimsby and Scunthorpe in North East and North Lincolnshire respectively.
