Process Technologist

**Job Purpose**

To co-ordinate the implementation of new recipes and materials into the factory, running factory trials; providing key samples for customers and relevant evaluations; in line with good manufacturing practice. To take ownership of projects related to the site process improvement plan, including production and procurement projects.

**Key Accountabilities**

**Process Development and factory trials**
- Run effective factory scale up trials and co-ordinate the implementation of new recipes and materials into the factory.
- Completion of factory trial reports.
- Support the product handover process to the factory by providing accurate trial information.
- Run continuous improvement projects to support the site process improvement plan.
- Undertaking all sample testing and organoleptic assessments, with support from the JR technologist, supporting effective management of critical paths to land projects on time.
- Co-ordinate the thermal validation requirements for site.

**Customer**
- Builds effective relationships with customers to ensure we meet their needs
- Create QAS documentation and attend customer factory trials/ launches where required

**Key Tasks**
- Overview of the key tasks that are undertaken as part of this role_
- To provide accurate and appropriate information for the writing of internal specifications to the Junior Technologist Ensure that any recipes ready to be handed over to the factory contain appropriate batching details, and factory information for a smooth and accurate transition.
- To ensure effective running of factory trials.
- Ensure trial follow up information is accurately captured and recorded - completing organoleptic assessments Micro testing, tip outs, photo standards, writing trial reports, nutritional’s, batching, re-heat verification, ERH’s.
- Create accurate Quality attributes for products and ensure provision of samples for customers.
- Own and deliver CI projects in line with the Process team CI programme.
- Carry out data logging on the steam retorts in accordance with Customer codes of practice.
- Support production on post launch production.
- Support in trouble shooting day to day process and product related factory issues.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**
- What skills, qualifications and experience are necessary for full and effective performance?_

**Qualifications and knowledge**
- Degree or equivalent in Food Science or related discipline
- Min 3 years’ experience in FMCG or similar environment
- Data driven with practical production/ process experience
- HACCP Level 3 qualification
- Project management skill
- Full Driving license
