**Sport & Leisure Duty Officer**

**Scale**: SCP6-7 (£12.38 to £12.59 per hour)

**Salary**: £15,490 to £15,754 pro rata per annum

**Contract**:Permanent, 24 hours plus 30 minute unpaid break each day
- _**Week A**_, Mon-Wed 6am-2:30pm including a 30min unpaid break
- _**Week B,**_ Mon-Wed 2pm-10:30pm including a 30min unpaid break

**PT**: Opportunity to build PT clients and take on fitness classes (rates to be confirmed during interview)

**Events**: Opportunity to work on educational programs (rates to be discussed)

**Purpose of the Role**

To supervise and oversee the operations of the Sports Centre and Gym, ensuring the health and safety of staff and customers, and guaranteeing the highest standards of service. To maintain and increase overall member retention levels and centre custom. To support the Managers by undertaking administrative and marketing duties, financial reports, and assist the Centre Operations. Support the Duty Supervisor Fitness Instructors, to increase income and provision ensuring that all procedures are adhered to. Support community work by over-seeing our team of casual staff who assist with the running of parties, co-ordinating community events and working in collaboration with Woodrush High school to provide educational courses for school students and members of the public.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The list is given as a guideline only and is not exhaustive. Other tasks and activities relevant should also be considered acceptable. A degree of flexibility is therefore considered essential.

**Main duties**
- Maintain high ‘front of house’ standards and assist with the smooth running of the centre. To act as the responsible officer in the absence of the Manager.
- Maintain customer service standard, to ensure that the centre adheres to the Academy’s and Sports Centres policies/procedures, practices and strategies including financial regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Manage and oversee Cleaning and Maintenance/ COSSH of the Gym and Centre, in line with Health and Safety Procedures
- Responsible for closing the Gym/Centre facility in line with Health and Safety Procedures when required.
- To deal effectively and helpfully with customer enquiries, queries and complaints.
- To actively seek out new memberships/custom and develop ways of maintaining memberships/custom.
- To carry out administration, marketing, data collection and financial reports where required.
- To oversee casual staff members involved in parties and any other duties required, such as training
- To develop relationships within the wider community and seek out opportunities for collaboration
- To collaborate with Woodrush High School in providing educational opportunities for young people and members of the public
- To maintain relationships with the youth centre, growing opportunities for young people
- To organise and oversee community events and educational programs

**To assist the Sport and Leisure Manager**:

- In monitoring and evaluating all aspects of the operation of the Gym, including; Information Technology, Administration, Human Resource Management, Business Development and Financial Management.
- In the provision of an effective service including the selling of memberships, direct debits, and Centre bookings.
- To market, promote and evaluate all aspects of the Centre to ensure value for money and financial viability across the whole service.
- In planning, development and organisation of the Gym facility, Gym memberships, Fitness Programmes, Health Initiatives and Fitness Classes.
- In planning, development and organisation of Children’s Parties and Holiday Programmes/Course when required..
- In the development, organisation and monitoring of all Gym Memberships and Sports Centre Customers to ensure a high quality service.
- In the day to day Financial matters relating to the Sport Centre and Lettings; till management and cashing up procedures where required.

**General**
- To provide cover for the Manager where required including Annual Leave Cover.
- To follow The Academy’s Safeguarding Policy at all times and report to Manager.
- To follow the Sports Centre Normal Operating Procedures.
- To undertake health and safety duties as detailed in the Academies and Sports Centre Health and Safety policy.
- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, and participate in appropriate training activities as required by the Manager.
- To attend staff meetings as required
- To maintain and develop good working relationships with both internal and external customers and stakeholders, including Staff, Young People, the General Public, Schools, Community Groups, Sports Clubs and Officers of the Council
- To undertake other duties, training and or hours of work as reasonably required which are consistent with the general level of responsibility with this post.
