Supported Living Support Worker

My Life Choice are excited to be supporting a young lady in a supported living service. We are looking for support workers who have a passion to make a difference in the lives of others, the role will begin supporting the young lady in a hospital setting and supporting her to have a smooth transition to introducing a whole new staff team and to make a new start in her new home. Currently the young lady is non-verbal but fluent in Makaton, she has a cheeky and mischievous sense of humour and is caring, funny, adventurous, kind with a huge heart.
Support hours are 12 hours per day (nights also available) and work off a two week rolling rota. (48 hours week 1, 36 hours week 2 - Contracted work).
This lady would like her new support workers to have experience working with people who have a Learning disability and or autism along with those who have experienced some trauma. She of course would like her staff to have good time keeping skills and to be proactive in the way they support her. The young lady communicates using Makaton so would like someone who has experience of using makaton,visual aids and PECs. However if you have a passion and the dedication to learn about these communication methods she would also love to meet you. As she will have access to her own car, although it's not essential, it would be beneficial if you can drive. She loves to be out and about.
Are you patient, kind and eager to learn new communication methods? Can you keep calm but remain confident in challenging situations and are you trustworthy, understanding and fun to be around with lots of energy?
Are you active and do you enjoy being outdoors and involved in sport? If you do, we hope you can engage in these activities that she enjoys, however you best put your running shoes on as your days will be filed with fun, laughter and enjoyment whilst experiencing as many of these activities as possible:
Water play, going to soft play, being outdoors, go to the park, going to the cinema, trampolining, playing football, shopping and messy play and lastly we hope you have a good story voice for sitting and reading at the end of the day with a voice for each character.
Her spare time she enjoys watching Peppa pig, Thomas the tank engine, Spider man and the Teletubbies, so brush up on your skills ready for when you need to know.
