The Head of UK P&C (TA&A), overseas the department for London, including the Syndicate and effectively leads the P&C reinsurance and direct accounting & administration teams, while ensuring that daily operations, cross-department interactions, projects, both locally and globally, run smoothly. Provides support to management and Regional Head.

**Key duties and responsibilities**
- Lead the teams in P&C insurance and/or reinsurance technical accounting and administration, for all UK entities and branches within their respective scope, including the Lloyd’s Syndicate.
- Ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly and within agreed service levels: E.g.
- Oversees that risk and policy data are accurately entered into the Underwriting system(s) within the defined Service Level Agreements.
- All risk and policy queries are communicated through the appropriate channels and responded to in a timely manner.
- Team is processing BAU topics (account bookings, settlements, cash queries, claims etc..) and escalating any issues through the appropriate channels.
- Accurate oversight of credit control process, ensuring aged debt and excess cash queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- **Strategic Planning**:Develop and implement the accounting department's goals, objectives, and strategies for the location in alignment with the overall company.
- **Financial Reporting**:Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for the region and compliance with regulatory requirements with particular attention to Lloyd’s reporting requirements.
- **Risk Management**:Assess and mitigate risks within the location and business scope, including reviewing and implementing appropriate internal controls and procedures.
- **Compliance and Governance**:Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations, internal and external auditing, standards, and internal policies, as required.
- **Team Management**:Supervise and provide guidance to local team leaders, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**:Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders, to ensure accurate and timely information exchange, resolve issues, and support business objectives.
- **Process Improvement**:Continuously evaluate accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and standardization within the location in coordination with the Global Support Team.
- **Performance Analysis**:Analyse performance, key metrics, and trends within the location, providing insights and recommendations to improve processes and operational efficiency.
- Manage and mentor staff and develop a strong technical accounting & administration team with focus on building up a solid talent pipeline and contingency planning.

**Required experience & competencies**

**Experience**:

- Multi year experience in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance and / or reinsurance
- Multi year experience in managing large teams
- Experience in the Lloyd’s market
- Experience in P&C technical reinsurance and direct accounting & administration
- Interpersonal, intercultural, and interdisciplinary communication and coordination skills Project management skills and experience
