The newly created Department for Business and Trade brings together the business focused functions of the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for International Trade (DIT). **Job Description***

You will be expected to:

- Create, iterate, publish and manage high-quality, user-centred content.
- Make complex language and processes easy to understand.
- Use analytics, user feedback, and user research to evaluate and improve content.
- Build relationships with stakeholders to understand their goals and work with them to improve user journeys and content quality.
- Work on the development and implementation of content strategies.
- Review and improve processes and work with content publishing systems.
- Collaborate with UK and global marketing and communications teams.

Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DBT, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.

**Essential Skills and Experience**

You will need to have demonstrable skills and experience of:
Agile working (content design)
- Demonstrate experience of working in Agile teams, including an awareness of Agile tools and how to use them.
- Advise colleagues on how and why Agile methods are used to provide a clear, open and transparent framework in which teams can deliver.
- Adapt and reflect and be responsive to feedback.

Content concepts and prototyping
- Show an awareness of prototyping, from paper sketches to coded prototypes, and you can understand when to use them.

Stakeholder relationship management (content design)
- Understand who your stakeholders are and work to understand their needs.
- Understand the importance of managing relationships with your stakeholders.

Strategic thinking (content design)
- Support the creation and development of strategies and policies.
- Contribute to iterating and improving processes and guidelines.
- Understand how activities meet strategic goals.

User focus (content design)
- Show an awareness of user experience analytics and principles.
- Understand the purpose of user stories and focus on user-centred design more widely.

User-centred content design
- Demonstrate some experience in writing and editing digital content, and of using content management systems to publish content.
- Understand the importance of using data and evidence to make content decisions, and you know the right questions to ask to use data to shape and iterate content.
- Work well under supervision.

**Desirable Skills and Experience**
- Awareness of GOV.UK publishing standards and a good understanding of Government Digital Services (GDS) Service Manual.

**Personal Attributes & Skills**
- You can work collaboratively and independently after being given direction by more senior content designers.
- You can identify user issues and needs to content admin and publishing processes. You have the confidence to engage, inform and sometimes influence stakeholders, while contributing to the cross-government content community.
