Buyer, High Wycombe, 3-4 months, £18.20 PAYE or £25 Umbrella:
A leading high-tech manufacturer who specialises in designing and developing products used in science research, is looking to recruit a contract Buyer to join their Purchasing function. This is an amazing time for a Buyer to join this busy purchasing team witha really varied role sourcing from a range of suppliers and working on unique one offs. The successful Buyer will be responsible for securing material availability, one off bespoke components, and support the day to day procurement activities which are inline with business and forecast needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Using data from the ERP system process action messages and raise ad hoc purchase orders
- Update ERP with latest information to ensure accurate records for planning and costing
- Make tactical buying decisions on a daily basis
- Achieve optimum balance of quality, delivery and cost
- Manage expedite requests
- Manage communication between vendors and internal customers, and escalate when needed
- Achieve excellent supplier relationships to provide required quality, delivery and costs to support achieving the output plan
- Identify improvements through data capture and analysis
- Educated to or performing at graduate calibre, or demonstrable track record of success in a purchasing environment (3+ years' experience)
- In process of gaining CIPS qualifications preferable
- Competent at handling supplier contracts, MRP, negotiation and supplier relationship management
- Able to efficiently manage competing priorities
- Confident when working to tight deadlines
- Experience and understanding of an MRP system
- A team player with creative problem-solving skills
- Drive to continually improve the supply chain
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
