Flourish Fostering is a therapeutic fostering organisation run by proven experts, that trains and supervises the very best quality foster families in providing a safe, environment in which children and young people can flourish in their social, emotional and educational development.

We are currently recruiting for a **Social Work Assistant based in Stockport **who will support the delivery of high-quality services to children and young people and our foster families. This exciting role requires relevant experience gained within a similar setting, complete with your eligibility to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence.

This role will involve working alongside the social work team to provide support to individual families, children and young people.

**Aim of the Post**

The Social Work Assistant will be someone who can get alongside children and families, making positive relationships. Crucial to successful outcomes for children are positive working relationships between all the professionals around the child, and the Social Work Assistant will support the Supervising Social Workers in an admin capacity, as well as organising respite, contact and transport for young people. Flourish Fostering is a therapeutic organisation and, ideally, applicants should have experience of working in a therapeutic IFA or be curious about therapeutic fostering and willing to learn. Part of the role will also include supporting the team with organising children’s events and activities, using their initiative and working closely under the direction of the Registered Manager, Senior Social Work Assistant and Supervising Social Workers.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To support the Supervising Social Workers in an admin capacity.
- To arrange respite, contact and transport for young people, under the guidance of the Senior Social Work Assistant.
- To support the Senior Social Work Assistant with referrals processes such as adding new children to the database.
- Overall responsibility to keep children’s files up to date and audited regularly.
- To meet with children and young people regularly to build and maintain positive relationships.
- To attend any relevant professional meetings when required.
- To attend monthly group supervision to continue building relationships with families and individual supervision with your Line Manager.
- To attend monthly staff meetings and any other staff meetings as and when required.
- To support in organising children’s events and activities and log child attendance to these on the system.
- To be aware of and to report on any aspect of a young person’s care or welfare where there is cause for concern. All Child Protection or safeguarding information is to be reported to the Registered Manager as per the Flourish Fostering Safeguarding Procedure and Guidance.

**Safeguarding Children**

Safeguarding Children is central to all that Flourish Fostering do. Social Work Assistants are in a good position to notice any actual or potential safeguarding concerns and must follow the Flourish Fostering reporting procedure if they have any cause to be worried about a child’s wellbeing. Social Work Assistants will be required to undertake mandatory online and taught safeguarding training within their induction period.

**Working Relationships**

Close liaison with the Senior Social Work Assistant, Supervising Social Workers, foster families, children and young people, and working with all other staff throughout the organisation.

- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
- Computer literate (specifically Microsoft Office)
