We have an exciting position for a Junior Clinical Fellow doctor in Obstetrics and gynaecology to spend 12 months in supporting the Junior SHO tier rota.

Wirral maternity service delivers approximately 3000 deliveries per annum and is the designated regional service to receive pregnant women with complex medical conditions requiring critical care. The neonatal service has level 3 accreditation and provides level 3 services to North Wales, as well as Cheshire and Merseyside. The Women’s services department is part of the Women and Children’s Division, which also includes breast services and sexual health. There are presently sixteen consultants covering all areas of obstetrics and gynaecological work.

**Specific Responsibilities Of This Role**:
Contribution to the junior doctor (SHO level) rota for acute management of obstetric and gynaecological patients. This is mainly based on Ward 53 (Gynaecology and Surgical Outliers), Gynaecology Assessment Unit, Early Pregnancy Unit, Maternity Triage, Maternity Ward and Labour Ward. This is both within usual hours and out-of-hours (nights and weekends) on-call commitments. Current out-of hours rota is 1:8

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
