London, United Kingdom King's College London Full time

Job Description

Student Outcomes and Student Transition and Continuation, and Student Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy.

The post-holder will lead in co-ordinating and delivering the work around student outcomes, and student transition and continuation, including personal tutoring and peer support, student mental health and wellbeing strategy, and inclusive education (as one of the two Professional Services co-leads, focussing on closing attainment gaps) in order to embed support for students in an inclusive and engaged way, addressing gaps in satisfaction and attainment.

The post holder will proactively engage with faculty colleagues and others in Education & Students to ensure that institution-wide support is leveraged, and that strategies around student outcomes, transition and continuation are well understood, consulted on, and implemented in an integrated way, in partnership with colleagues across King’s and KCLSU.

We are looking for an individual who shares our aspirations and our values, who is comfortable working strategically and operationally, who understand how to deliver support and services to students and other end-users, and who is equipped to work in a high volume, complex and fast-paced environment.

Associate Directors have operational responsibility for a defined portfolio of education and student professional services, as:

- a divisional lead within the Students and Education Directorate;
- the professional services education and students lead within an academic faculty;
- or the lead of defined function-wide transformation initiatives.

The Associate Directors work within and across teams and functions, engaging with a wide-range of colleagues across King’s to drive a positive and transformative impact on the student experience. This includes ensuring:

- that services are delivered efficiently and consistently across King’s;
- the mutual role of service users and those delivering services are understood so that the services deliver value and impact;
- the key measures of service effectiveness reflect the reality on the ground;
- the mutual dependencies of services across and within functions are managed to embed a culture of service, transparency and continuous improvement across King’s.

Associate Directors will have an excellent understanding of the priorities, cultures, and pressures of a research-led university, and of academic processes and the structure of the academic year.

This is a permanent post

Key responsibilities
- Managing and coordinating all Student Transition & Outcomes related activities, especially in the areas of student outcomes, and student transition and continuation, including personal tutoring and peer support
- Overseeing the work of the student outcomes team, in partnership with academic and Professional Services colleagues across King’s
- Reviewing and refreshing the transition and continuation strategy for the institution, and overseeing the work of the transition and continuation team
- Acting as the lead for Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy, in close collaboration with the Strategic Director, who is the Professional Services lead for Mental Health and Wellbeing, and the Service Delivery lead for associated student support provision
- Partnering with KCLSU, and embedding a range of approaches to understanding and responding to the student insights, to ensure that the Students’ Union and the student body can contribute to the development and implementation of activities in all these areas
- Jointly leading work on inclusive education, alongside a Professional Services co-lead, and an academic lead, to embed inclusive practice, and anti-racist provision
- Using metrics and data such as NSS/PTES outcomes, and information on student attainment (and gaps in satisfaction and attainment) to feed into service improvements or projects
- Tracking and measuring the effectiveness of Student Success initiatives and making strategic adjustments as necessary.
- Proactively engaging with faculty colleagues and others in Education & Students to ensure that institution-wide support is leveraged, and that strategies around student outcomes, transition and continuation are well understood, consulted on, and implemented in an integrated way
- Serving as primary point of contact to ensure information flows smoothly between Faculties, Departments, Directorates and Corporate Communications.
- Staying abreast of sector-wide developments in student experience and student success
- Supporting the training, mentoring, development and career progression of colleagues in the function
- Working in collaboration with the Student Experience Managers to develop and lead the Student Experience Framework
- The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post._
