Glasgow, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
- It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here.
- Our work keeps Scotland’s water flowing, from reservoir to tap - and from sewer to treatment plant.
- Do your bit by using effective supply chain management to achieve our big strategic aims - right here at our CIPS Platinum accredited procurement ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Stepps.
- You will have the opportunity to move around within the team and learn about different categories over time. We believe that it benefits the individual and the business to have people that are knowledgeable in several areas, it keeps things interesting for you and provides the team with greater flexibility.
- What you’ll do
- You will be leading end to end procurement activity of strategic, high value goods and services within the framework of EU Procurement Regulations for Utilities. This will include providing support, advice and guidance to stakeholders and lead on all aspects of the procurement lifecycle, including market and supplier analysis, options appraisal, tender process, evaluation and data analysis.
- You will negotiate with suppliers to deliver cost savings and other benefits in support of Procurement and Supply Chain's business plan targets.
- You will prepare a range of reports to facilitate decisions taken by senior stakeholders on procurements and strategies.
- You will take control of effective Integrated Supply Chain Management in order to build and maintain a cohesive and effective supply chain that is not only fully integrated with Scottish Water and its partners, but delivers and exceeds the targeted value and efficiency in support of the business plan and Financial Outperformance Plan.
- You will manage and optimise business to business relationships (internally & within the supply chain).
- You will identify and manage risk and opportunities within your categories.
- You will make sure audit and legal requirements are met through Process Management, ensuring diligent and effective use of existing processes, systems, and governance.
- Drive compliance to SW frameworks and supply chain management processes through analysis and interpretation of data, guidance and education for specific users.
- Seek and facilitate opportunities to drive and deliver further value for SW through its supply chain.
- What you’ll bring
- You will have a proven track record in the delivery of procurements and an understanding of a strategic procurement process, including strategy development, tendering, supply chain management and negotiation and preferably with some knowledge of public procurement and EU procurement legislation.
- You will possess strong analytical skills with the ability to draw out key messages and findings to make recommendations and / or support decisions at senior levels;
- You will be able to demonstrate your ability to effectively influence stakeholders and suppliers at all levels.
- You will have a proactive, ‘can-do’ approach and energy - this is essential to ensure delivery at pace and to a high quality.
- Be able to demonstrate problem solving abilities; active listening skills and effective, tailored engagement approaches.
- Ideally, you will be professionally MCIPS qualified or working towards this.
- You will have experience of working in a construction or engineering procurement environment would be desirable but not essential.
- Looking out for you
- Do you hold a CIPS qualification? Or are you working towards MCIPS status? We are passionate about professional development and will pay for you to study and sit exams, and will also pay the cost of your annual membership. Although this job is flexible, we bring our Procurement team together every Wednesday and on alternating Mondays in Stepps.
- The Procurement Team in Scottish Water is envied for its promotional opportunities. We have an ethos of developing our enthusiastic and talented people and creating the right opportunities for them to grow and progress through the organisational structure right through to management level in some cases.
- The salary range for this position is £35,384 - £47,924 depending on experience.
- While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
- You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.
- When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working. For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), and life assurance. As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not
