**Key Skills**:

- 2 years post Environmental Health/Housing qualification experience in a similar role.
- Detailed practical experience, knowledge in at least two of the following areas:
HHSRS, HMOs, Enforcement, Complaints, Nuisances
- Full valid UK driving licence.

**Duties**:

- Qualified & experienced HHSRS inspector, to carry out housing inspections in the private sector following housing conditions complaints and to take the necessary enforcement action as required.
- HMO inspections and regulation of HMO licensing.
- Investigation of unlawful evictions and harassment.
- Empty Homes inspections.
- Carry out property inspections of residential premises to assess compliance with the relevant housing standards.
- Carry out housing enforcement procedures in respect of HHSRS and Houses in Multiple Occupation
- Undertake inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) using the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify disrepair, means of escape in case of fire and adherence to management standards. Check licence documentation in line with legislative requirements take action to ensure compliance with legal and best practice requirements in relation to housing standards.
- Carry out investigations of unlicensed HMO premises, working with multi agency partners as necessary. Including collation of evidence and undertaking inspections, using all available enforcement tools as and when required to secure compliance.
- Undertake inspections using the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify deficiencies in habitation, causes of disrepair and overcrowding. Prepare schedules where necessary which set out works required to bring properties up to statutory and council standards.
- Investigate and ensure compliance with the Gas and Carbon Monoxide Regulations.
